The Children’s Court of Victoria is a specialist court with a Family Division dealing with cases involving children and young people. The Family Division deals with applications relating to protection and care and applications for intervention orders. The Criminal Division deals with matters relating to criminal offending.
The Victorian Children’s Court has its headquarters in central Melbourne (see “More information”). Most of the criminal cases that arise in Melbourne’s inner suburbs are heard here. The Children’s Court also regularly sits at suburban and country courts (contact details for these courts are listed on the Children’s Court website).
